Your first 30 minutes
A small, practical route from first boot to a usable desktop.
Based on public documentation; not hardware-tested. Match the instructions to your version and hardware.
1. Find your starting point
Section titled “1. Find your starting point”Press Super + Space to open the Omarchy menu. Super usually means the Windows key on a PC keyboard or Command on a Mac keyboard.
Open a terminal with Super + Enter. Keep one window open while you practice. You do not need to customize anything yet.
2. Get connected
Section titled “2. Get connected”Follow the Wi-Fi connection steps for the desktop panel or terminal interface.
Use the network controls in the top bar. Select your network, connect, and open a website you know. A connected icon alone is not the final test.
If this fails, go to Wi-Fi troubleshooting and choose the branch that matches what you see.
3. Check your daily essentials
Section titled “3. Check your daily essentials”- Type a short sentence and verify the keyboard layout.
- Play a short audio clip and check the output device.
- Open an application you expect to use every day.
- If you type Chinese, follow the input guide.
4. Learn one window movement
Section titled “4. Learn one window movement”Open a second application. Switch focus with Super + an arrow key. Notice the focused window before typing.
Read the window practice guide when you are ready to move between workspaces.
5. Leave yourself a good starting state
Section titled “5. Leave yourself a good starting state”Save work, review the update guide, and learn where recovery options live. Change one setting at a time so you know what caused a new behavior.
Checkpoint: you can open an application, reach the internet, type comfortably, hear audio, and find your way back to the menu.
